MARCH MEETING

Tuesday, March 19, 2024 - 19:15

Kathy Gray

Programme Organiser for Norfolk Plant Heritage Group

‘Plant Hunters’

Kathy will start her talk with ‘Tradescants’ (John Tradescant (c.1570 – 1638) is one of the most captivating characters in the story of gardens) with the talk continuing with very early plant hunters -  Joseph Banks, the father of plant hunting, Frances Masson who is maybe less well known but introduced so many plants that we use today, mainly from South Africa then David Douglas who gave us many of our conifers and finish with Ernest 'Chinese' Wilson. Kathy tries to include a bit about the people themselves rather than just the plants.
